Welcome to you weekly minute with the Pastor.

Morning Service at The Baldivis Church on Sunday28th February

On Sunday morning we began a new series on Eternity, with the first message titled “God Has Put Eternity in Our Hearts.” To introduce the new series, we have decked out the auditorium with banners to highlight the theme of Eternity. All of our Sunday messages are recorded on CD and posted on our website on the podcast page. The previous series of four messages, on the theme of “Making the Most of This Life,” has been packaged on to two CDs and is available for purchase through our bookshop. You will need to order these now as the current stock sold out on Sunday. The first message on Eternity was very well received and has people talking about this subject. For those away on the long weekend, I encourage you to bring yourself up to speed with the rest of the church by accessing the message on the podcast page of our website.

Evening Service

On Sunday evening we continued our series from Gospel of Matthew chapter 7, with the message this Sunday on Matthew 7:12, titled the Golden Rule; a popular summary of the general teaching of Jesus, about doing unto others as you would have them do to you. For your information, the great Chinese philosopher, Confucius, taught similar words about 500 years before Christ: “Do nothing to your neighbour which afterward you would not have your neighbour do to you.” (Confucius in Mahabharata XIII.5571 (551-479BC) Living by this Golden Rule will not get you into heaven; but if you are heaven bound by virtue of having entrusted yourself to Jesus Christ, you will endeavour to live by the Golden Rule. For the love of Christ compels me (2 Cor 5:14).

Development Continues in Baldivis

Site works continue in all major Baldivis suburbs, with Stockland having commenced a new development at the Corner of Safety Bay Road and Baldivis Road, South, and Australand extending Baldivis Central to the South, along Baldivis Road, and plans to commence development in the near future to the immediate South and West of The Baldivis Church. The continuing development means continuing growing population in Baldivis, and a continuous flow of new people to all of our services and ministries. Follow this link to a discussion forum of non Baldivis Church people talking about the relative merits of The Baldivis Church Playgroup: www.essentialbaby.com.au .

The Baldivis Church Building Project – Phase 3.

Phase 3 building project for The Baldivis Church is the conversion of our current office centre into a foyer for the auditorium as well as a bookshop to accommodate the current book sales which takes place at the rear of the auditorium. To accommodate our seven paid staff, while looking to the future, we will be building an office & administration centre, to be located opposite the gazebo on the Western side of the driveway into the campus. Last Friday we received planning approval from the City council, and so we are getting ready to commence building within the next month or so. Phase 4 building project for The Baldivis Church – a larger auditorium – is also currently in the planning stages.

New Street Sign for The Baldivis Church

Our new street sign went up on Friday: “Church is more than Sunday.” And of course it is; Playgroups, Connect Groups, MOPS, Men’s ministry, Women’s ministry, Youth and Kids’ ministries and so on! See attached pic.

Notes, Quotes & Anecdotes

·         Fructuous – “fruitful, productive.”

·         Gregarious – “tending to form a group with others of the same kind; seeking and enjoying the company of others.”

·         “This week, when you feel like there is no one that can grasp what you are going through; when you feel like throwing up your hands and giving up; when you have that gut reaction of, ‘No one understands my situation ….’ Remember that our Saviour has been there and then add two words to your statement ….. ‘like Jesus.’” (Ed Young)

·         “The gospel is only good news if it gets there in time.” (Carl Henry)

Prayer

Please pray for marriages and families:

·       “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” (Eph 5:33)

·       “Honour your father and mother – which is the first commandment with a promise.” (Eph 6:2)

·       “And now a word to you parents …. Bring your children up with the loving discipline the Lord Himself approves, with suggestions and godly advice.” (Eph 6:4 LB)

Praying that you have a fantastic week.

Blessings in Christ Jesus
