Notes, Quotes & Anecdotes
· “It’s very easy to get comfortable in a position of leadership, to believe that you’ve got all the answers, especially when you begin to enjoy some success. People start telling you that you’re the smartest one around. But if you believe them, you’re just the dumbest one around. That’s one of the reasons it’s extremely difficult to stay at the top – because once you get there, it is easy to stop listening and learning. When success comes your way, you must work even harder and avoid the great temptation of believing that previous achievements will occur in the future without even greater effort than was required in the past.” (John Wooden – Former UCLA basketball coach)
· “Without forgiveness there is no future.” (Desmond Tutu)
· Billets-doux (bil-ay doo) – “A love letter or note.”
· Coquetry (koh-ke-tree) – “Dalliance; flirtation.”
· “Though a righteous man falls seven times he rises again.” (Proverbs 24:16)
· Common Phrases that are often misquoted:
- “That gets my goat,” which means that something irritates me. Often misquoted as “That gets up my goat.” There is no “up” in the phrase.
- “One fell swoop,” which means something happened; took place in one action. Often misquoted as “One foul swoop.” It is not “foul” but “fell.”
Prayer
The mission statement of The Baldivis Church states: “Showing people all they can become in Christ.” Please pray that we may continue to do that as a church, with new people who are currently making The Baldivis Church their spiritual home, as well with people who have been part of the church for a longer period.
Praying that you have a fantastic week.
Blessings in Christ Jesus
